How about Building/Grow Your Community(new category/sub category in weblamp)?  There are many free forum/blog applications today so that many website owners/webmasters are running a forum.  But it's no easy task to get regular posters and get people participate in his/her forum.  Now I look around, and I don't find a category/sub category that I can ask how to build/grow my community site.  Are there enough people interested?

That sounds interesting. It would probably be best to add when Denis installs the new version of YABBSE (The one capable of creating sub-categories). BTW, in what section would you recommend the sub-category be?

There are several people here that know alot about forums, so finding someone to help out should be a simple task.

But I don't run the show, so I'm going to wait for someone else to say something... Lips Sealed

ok I'm here folks, sorry for delays, I was a bit busy lately so didn't apper for almost 24 hours here.
as for category hmm... personally I have idea to cover this topic in new version of www.weblamp.net and tell exactly what mistakes I've made when creating particular parts of my site and how I handle this...
as for creating new boards I've try to avoid one of the mistake of the past when I've create many boards and many of them were empty... so personally I don't think that creating board to dedicated to forums would be really popular or at least it will work properly...  since I think there is several rules which should be folowed in order that community start to grow... and I can actually write it all in one post probably...
but wait, whiteRabbit, you gave me brilliant idea... what would you say if we create more general board? e.g. first steps on how to make your site? or something like this, or even better just general board for miscelleneous questions so we can see what people are really looking for...
so what people you think about it? do we need another board to see what we missing here? somehting like we have for promotion I mean Promotion In General board? if so please also post advice with names.
Thank you whiteRabbit for pointing such thing like missing some board.

What do you guys think about renaming "Promotion in General" to "Web Promotion and Community Growth"?

Doing it this way will keep all promotion and growth related topics in one board. Then if anyone wishes to discuss growths other than forums (Like artist communities and such) we won't have to create an additional board each time.

I consider this an organized and convenient idea... Curious to hear anyone else's thoughts.

maybe not just communities? but something more general as e.g. someone could seek for growth of his shop or banner network who knows... but I like the idea... but would like to hear what other say on this.

Well, you could always call it "Web Promotion and Growth" instead. Then that would include shops, forums, networks, and pretty much anything else that requires growth and/or promotion.

ok here is community where such questions like forum growing could be discussed, it's general board for all kind of web development which doesn't really fit to other categories: General Development Discussion
By the way, whiteRabbit, I moved your thread there.
