I'm trying to figure out a domain name and I was wondering do you think it is better to have a catchy domain name or a domain name that contains your target keyword?

If you are interested in your ranking in search engines then a domain name with your best target keyword would be best IMO. However! if you want your site remembered and your focus is on return visitors then a domain name that is relevant to your content and easy to remember would be best again IMO.

I think best to have a catchy name, to be unique and different from other names as these days, domain names are too diluted and hardly you can find any good names to register.

Cheers !

If it is me, I would choose the latter. A domain name that contains your target keyword will perform well SEO wise in a long run. Or if you don't care about SERP and focus more on the branding, the name of catchy name make sense.

Catchy Domain Names vs Keyword Domains

When it is time to buy a domain name, the tendency is to run out and purchase a domain incorporating your business name. This is a mistake. Unless you have a very popular business, you business name is not going to help you pull traffic to your site. Whether it is buying a domain name or designing your site, you should always be thinking about pulling traffic to the site. It is by far the most important aspect of your marketing.

Key word since most of your traffic (you hope) will come from organic search. Of course, both would be great, if you can find it.

Catchy name gets my vote. Keyword may be stored in titles meta tags and content, but the name of domain should be memorable

You can achieve high search engine position even without domain containing keyword.

A keyword rich domain can help a lot but it isn't crucial to success. Just ask eBay, Yahoo, Woot, Digg, and a billion more. In any event I think "Inline Wheels Plus" is pretty good (albeit long) but I wouldn't go posting it all over the place until you've bought it.
