I have found this free software called Digital Invisible Ink Toolkit that will take an image and hide within that image (without changing how the image looks to the human eye) a text file or another image. I took an image I had and created a text file that said "this belongs to donec" and used the program to hide the file in the image and password protected it so only with the password could it be decoded. I then used the same program to decode the image and it made a new file that said "this belongs to donec". So I can now post this file anywhere and if someone copies it I could prove it was mine by decoding the image with the program. I also placed an image of a statcounter button inside another image. When decoded I ended up with an image with the button hidden in it and an image of the statcounter button. When anyone sees the image they don't see the hidden image. I found it has a draw back though for protecting you image and that is if the image is converted to another format the hidden information is lost. Of course if it is not known to contain data the why bother to convert it? So it is one more thing that can be done to protect your images.

You can try to register your files or images or other artistic and non artistic file or design, at safe creative, and then you will have a certificate that it's trully yours with the avail of Safecreative.org. Give it a try, why just protect your images when you can protect the whole file?

See ya!

Does it cost anything to use the service and do you need to provide them with a copy of your work?

Interesting. I checked it out and it looks pretty good. I'm not a tech person so I'll give it some time before I try it.

Can you provide more information on how to do that? Does it require learning php or is there a simple copy and paste way to do it. Many artist are not interested in learning php.

Greetings,

For newbies search on google for "watermark script". As for a junior php developer download here:http://www.php-help.ro/downloads/PHP+watermark+on+the+fly
