This is not what you would expect.

The concept is to siphon readers of your blog into a monthly subscription site.

Also it is one of the easiest ways possible to do this.

Check out how I market this from my blog:

http://www.weight-loss-tips.ws/weight-loss-boot-camp/

You can see that I simply created a Yahoo! group. And access to the discussions is for members only.

In the group admin, I set up a pending member email to send them a link to a PayPal subscription for membership of this group.

When I receive notification of the new subscriber from PayPal, I go to the group admin and admit the new member. Then they get sent a welcome email.

How simple is that!

I did look at Google groups which is less Ad intense, but they don't have the facility to send the pending member, the custom email which is vital so they get automatically sent the subscribe link.

I was planning to do this for a long time and finally got around to it.

I got the original idea from the 20 ways to make $100 a day online eBook that I purchased some years ago and somehow lost it, so I had to dig deep into my emails to find the original invoice. This idea stuck in my mind for years and I finally implemented it in a couple of hours. In the eBook, there are many more tactics for making money online in very doable ways.

The author of this method makes a living from this simple technique.

I had toyed with the idea of setting up a password protected forum with a payment gateway, but this way is so much easier and probably as effective.

The small downsides are that the members need a Yahoo! ID to get in and the discussion area is surrounded by Ads.

But if you are very busy, this is a no-brainer way to set up a membership site at zero cost.

I am charging $10 per month for the subscription, so if I get just 100 members, that is $1000 a month of profit. And all I need to do is chat to people in the Group.

That is a good idea but if you want to make money in every click a visitor made to your blog, you may check http://laptopforfree.net.

How does your LapTopForFree site work out? I think it is promoting offers that lead to people testing out gadgets but maybe your site got de-indexed by Google for being a bit misleading?

That's a good idea, Andy. So, when sign up for the email subscription as you had posted in your weight loss blog, they are sent an paypal link, and if they want to receive their email from you they will have to pay for it. Is that right ?

That was the basic idea. Now though, I would use Concrete5 CMS since I am familiar with it for creating a membership site.
