I did not think I had great cable, but here are my results:

By the way... I only had DSL for a short period of time and thought it was near terrible. I was unimpressed.

I am sharing the connection  with my son who always seems to be downloading some TV program so I will have to try it again when the LEDs stop blinking on the modem.

Heck, you could host your own server with that upload speed. Grin

I was honestly surprised... I guess I didn't realize how good the performance was. Huh I notice a lot of lag when visiting actual websites, but I am usually very happy with file download time.

And I can show my results now too Smiley as recently my phone company agree to accept my inquiry about ADSL, now I've got unlimited connection with really fast speed(for me as I've merged to it from modem with highest speed 33.6 kbit/s in good days when average was between 19 to to 28.8 kbit/s.

Now pages really load on the fly!  Grin

Rachel, what's was wrong with your DSL as you have second fastest connection after Andy, maybe there was a problem with particular DSL modem(as before I bought mine I've tested few models and choose D-Link 2540U which have most stable connection with ISP).

And Bob is right, with such speed connection you may think about hosting your own site for fun(at least I would try to do so if I had that fast upload channel).

I gave this another go today just to see the difference.

I also tried the above... http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk

My speeds can be up and down within minutes of doing another test.

I've just had a look at my cable account and it tuns out that i'm still on 10Mb. I thought i had upgraded to 20Mb ages ago, but it turns out that i didn't. I'm not sure that i could justify the cost of upgrading now anyway. Plus my surfboad cable modem would need to be changed. BTW Virgin (Once called Telewest) cable are just starting to get ready to roll out 50Mb cable in the UK. I think that will be the fastest home broadband over here. I wont be able to justify the cost of that though either.

Notice how my download speeds are no where near 10Mb and upload ... Doh !

Rachel, your speed is just scary me Smiley

Manu, what speeds you get when test with local server?

Graham, I don't see any reason for using something faster than I had, so 10mb should be more than enough especially if it's cost effective.

Here is my speed data, although if we move to other flat I have to work from mobile again Tongue But at least it would be 3G if I find some affordable compatible phone.

I figured out why my internet speed seemed slow... apparently my brother and one of his friends had adjusted some firewall settings for networking purposes, but in reality all they did was slow down my internet. I reset the internet cable box and everything is working fantastic now.
