In another thread I had mentioned about working on an adult website; primarily for the reason that my best affiliate has been the DVD affiliate. Well, my objective was to write some short adult fiction to put on the website for content, then provide links throughout the story to DVDs, some of which may be thematically linked to the story.

I started with my first story for the site, probably knocked it out in about 20 minutes.

Figuring with that kind of brevity I could knock out quite a few stories in a relatively short time.

Ever have that problem of starting something and then getting carried away with it?

Each successive story, for the most part, was longer than the previous story. The first story was just hack writing, and each story since has been progressive in its development. Actually my 4th story was the longest of the six stories I have written for that site.

But just can't let it go. Subsequently, looking around at some of the templates and old site I've worked on in the past, many of which never turned in to anything, I found a template I had started working into an adult site and decided to complete the site, moving in a different direction than I had started with it so I could use the site, and other similar unfinished projects, to host on other domains to provide a network of backlinks to my new domain.

The best laid plans go straight to...ahem...scuse me.

I had taken some simple text stories I had downloaded from an adult webmaster site some time back (free use of the stories in exchange for providing a link to them) and added them to the site. Figuring on having just a few more to make the site look more complete, and to have some different keywords, I decided to write a few more stories for this site with the intent of making them short.

Yeah...right.

I started writing a vampire story; had originally intended it to be no more than about 10 paragraphs. By the time I had written the 10th paragraph, i had not even completed the build-up to the story. Out of the stories I have written in this spree, the intended short vampire story has become my longest story; and a series as I have two more stories I'm working on using the same character.

Well, it got me to writing, and I have some wordy content for my new site. I'm considering polishing up the vampire stories and submitting them to some magazines for potential publication. Of course, I could take them and start a site about vampires using the stories as a basis, though for now I don't think I could commit myself that much to the vampire genre and think would likely turn into another abandoned website.

My new adult website uses a taboo subject, of sorts (taking a lesson from another webmaster here...ahem...wonder who), but still enough generality to allow for a great variety in the stories.

You know, I really didn't have anything to say; I was just being myself and rambling aimlessly again.

haw about "@@X stories" for your adult sites.

That will help reduce the stress, won't it?

I was rather using adult politely.

These stories would certainly qualify as what you mentioned.

Went just a bit crazy again. I intended to write another vampire story for the site to replace the one I originally intended for it which turned into a series instead.

The new story I started on, I was certain it was going to be just right for the site.

I got carried away again.

I'm just going to use this new vampire story for my Men's Daring site. I'm working on two stories for it anyway, and this will fit pretty well with it.

I'm not a big fan of vampires; I just wanted the keywords for the site, which is why I've been trying to write a fitting story for it.

Menard, have you considered publishing short stories as a self publisher? I am very keen to publish my own book. Like I mentioned before somewhere, I plan to use Lulu.com for publishing and distribution. Many books are about 350 pages long which is not so much to aim for. So you could maybe publish 10 short stories of an average of 35 pages each so you don't risk it all on one novel/topic.

Also, adding to this, I wouldn't mind guest submitting a short story to your book on the theme of vampires or whatever theme you had in mind (within reason ;-)

I'm presently just considering the series of vampire stories, using the same central character, for publication by submitting them to some appropriate magazines after I have several written and polished. If I can get some published in magazines, that would provide a bit of a marketing springboard for publishing either the series in a book format, or other stories is a book format.

I am working further on the vampire series. I have changed the name of the main character twice since I first wrote the first story. I am also going to expand on the first story as when I wrote it there was no intention of turning it into a series; I want to go back and add some story elements which foreshadow future stories, and to also maintain continuity between the stories.

I have changed her appearance in the stories as well, and have been playing around with the time period for the stories.

I don't have any other stories I'm considering for publishing other than on my own sites, but then I didn't have any such stories for that until I started on the vampire story which was suppose to be much shorter. No telling what might come of this writing spree.

I am additionally working on some other simple websites to use for building a link network for the adult sites (getting them on their own domains or others domains to build backlinks to my other sites). I started working on two sites today, using some simple adult templates I bought cheaply some time back; it kind of looks like a picture frame with an appropriate picture on one side of the template and I've placed a div scroller on the other which contains all the content. I may put one or two of those sites on their own domains, but I'm designing them simply and compactly to keep updates simple, create other sites from them, and to be more portable for the purpose of moving them between servers should that need arise.

On one of those two sites, I started and finished two short stories today; staying within the lines of the premise I intended, short and to the point, without going too wild on them.

I still need to finish my vampire story which I am going to publish on Men's Daring (I also have two more stories in the works for that site, but I intended those for the site; and one of those stories I'm writing under the pen name). Yesterday, I also started a story for the site I've been writing most of these stories for: my taboo niche adult site. When I finish this story, I will have completed 7 stories for the site and have 10 more story ideas slated for it, presently; not all of them will necessarily make it to a story, but others will replace them if that's the case.

As I have been finding out, the cool thing about writing stories for one's site is there is no need for reference work like in article writing, and with so many websites now littering the web with articles written for keywords by people who know nothing of the subjects they are writing about, even my worst story is leaps and bounds above any keyword generated articles; plus I can potentially write several stories in the amount of time it might take me to research and write an article.

Just published my singular (non-series) vampire story to my Men's Daring blog; the first story/post published there.

It can be found here: http://mensdaring.com/?p=5 (be aware, it is an adult blog)

Yeah, great story! As long as she can't find a plentiful supply of blood, you should be ok to visit regularly to give a little each time.

Day Off is a lot less explicit than the other stories I've been writing. Those other stories make good use of keywords and you can well imagine what some of those keywords are.

I started Day Off with the same intent, but stories often take on a character of their own and I ended up avoiding certain language in the story telling.

I think you did a good job in painting the picture of what was going on so the reader can imagine themselves in the role of the compromised Vampire Hunter.

For other stories, I like the idea of ramping up the risk factor by delicately balancing the fine line between being killed by the vampire and offering them what they want but at the same time taking enormous risks. Or being thrown into situations where it is impossible to wriggle out of or where it could have been avoided if you were not so stupid.

Basically: fear, greed, lust etc all mixed up

Went a little wild again. I had been writing a few short horror stories (very adult in content) for a new site concept.

The first two stories fit the site just fine. I started on a third story, originally aiming to make it about the same length as the first two; 5000 words later, when I'm maybe half finished, I'm having to split it off into it's own page and break it down into chapters.

The website I'm working on, for which I am now apparently writing a novelette, I decided rather than using it as a quickie site to use it a publishing platform under my pen name; this way I'll have a web presence for that pen name, and the site will still accomplish its intended purpose..
