I had actually been wanting to do something with the domain 5PB.net, and have been thinking of calling it Nickel Paperback and having a site which can be accessed with a pocket internet device (some cellphones, iphone, etc.).

I just used a narrow Wordpress template for a blog to put on the domain.

Nickel Paperback

It's just a smaller blog.

I'm presently using a narrow template with a somewhat adult theme. I plan to replace the random header images with covers from old pulps and dime novels (Spicy Detective, Startling Mysteries, etc.).

I'm going to orient like a digest magazine with categories like Editorial, Short Stories, Travel, Reviews, etc.

I added an adsense plugin, but it was not working, so I am just manually inserting the adsense in each post and have set it to show no more than 3 posts to a page.

I am not going to go overboard with post lengths on this blog (see Joe Camper for evidence of going overboard on post length Grin). I'm aiming to keep the posts shorter, probably 200 to 500 words. I'll try to keep short stories under 1000 words.

A bit too narrow IMHO

Since I don't have one, what is the screen width of an iphone or many cellphones with internet browsers?

Is the theme I am now using too wide for what I'm wanting it to be?

Menard,

I checked out your site on my iPhone and it looks fine  Cheesy

You don't have to bother about the dimensions since we can zoom in and out and pan around sites.

p.s. check your server logs for some kind of footprint of the iPhone having visited your site.

For other mobile devices you may need a separate version of your site though to suit them.

Why not use a fluid width to accommodate more screen sizes?

What I have looked at in fluid width templates has not appealed to me. They were either too busy in their design, or looked like I designed them; neither of which is a good thing.

I'll try out the mobile devices plugin they have for Wordpress. I put off trying that so far as a bug reported on their forums is that it sometimes recognizes a regular browser as a mobile device and and formats it as a mobile app when it should not; I'll just have to test it out and see if that happens.

Maybe you can use mobile phone simulators that may be available via the developer sections of sites for the various mobile phones?

I have added the mobile pack plugin for wordpress to the blog. It seems to be working okay, at least in not defaulting to a mobile format on my desktop. There is a link in the footer where one can switch between mobile and desktop modes.
