Generally I have not had a problem with relevancy in Google Adsense ads as most of the sites they are on are fairly general in nature and most ads fit with them fine.

Until the camper blog.

It seems like the first day I initiated the code, I had some ads dealing with RVs and such.

Ever since, every single ad is for some way to deal with spam.

Now I have been looking around at some suggestions on how to get the ads to target better for the content, and perhaps Google may correct this with a few weeks (I sure hope so as the ads are useless as they are and might as well not be there); section targeting has been the most suggested method, though with a blog script that works from a database, this seems a bit difficult of a task (probably just me though as I have never worked with these scripts).

Would inserting code into the index.php file such as <!--camper conversion van motorhome rv-->, so it won't show, be likely to have any affect on the ads, or just be ignored?

Perhaps it will just take time as I have experienced on a forum before where what we recently posted influenced the relevancy of the ads, at times humorously, within a short time when reading the post. Of course, this led me to start an adsense thread entirely for the purpose of posting keywords to see how it would manipulate the ads when reading the post; to the dismay of the forum admin.

Adsense relevancy was headache here as well, as forum have several ways pointing to thread(each new reply create new URL) and each URL look like unique one to Adsense so each one should be visited first in order to display relevant content, otherwise system will try to pick ads for site niche which in my case didn't work.
I've tried section targeting just to emphasize where content is located and unrelated content like buttons user profiles. Although I can't tell it have greatly improved how system pick ads for forum. Right now they seems to do something about this and ads become more relevant than in past.

Anyway section targeting shouldn't be hard with blog, you just need to place section code around loop function. If you show me which template you're using I can show you places where to insert Adsense section  code.

I think the problem is a lack of relevant Ad inventory for your niche. At first they probably test your site for conversion quality with good quality Ads and then switch back the Ads to sites with high quality score. Then they serve what's left over to your site. So your site becomes smart-priced i.e. a repository for the Ads that they don't know what to do with but maybe are distantly related to your topic.

That's why I suggested affiliate Ads and targeted product feeds. Then you get to choose what products are displayed on your site. Also you can pick advertisers in Adsense via the "Referrals" section. I tried it once but forgot how it works. I think there is a danger here that public service Ads may show up on your site.

When visitors see random Adsense Ads on your site, it may give them a bad impression as regards your motives.

So I think you are trying to run before you can walk and not giving the site a chance to get authority and traffic before monetizing it.

The Adsense Ads you would get now would maybe generate 2 cent clicks so it is a waste of time until your site gets good authority in it's niche which takes months or doesn't happen at all depending on what you do.

It may be settling in a bit now.

With the latest ads, I'm getting a Myrtle Beach banner and text ads for vans in the sidebar. Mucho improvement over web hosting and anti-spam software ads.
