Three phones are now in competition with each other in the battle of the touch screen phones. The Apple iPhone 3G is the latest version of the iPhone and most people already know how good this one is. HTC are just about to bring out the Google software (Android) phone called the HTC G1 and Research In Motion (RIM) Ltd are just about to bring out a new Blackberry phone called the Blackberry Storm.

When it comes to the built in cameras the iPhone has a 2 megapixel camera, the G1 has a 3.2 megapixel camera with 2048×1536 pixels & autofocus and the Storm has a 3.2 megapixel camera with 2048×1536 pixels, flash, video, zoom and autofocus. I'm guessing that the Blackberry wins this part.

The memory on the iPhone is either 8MB or 16MB built in memory depending on the phone you buy. The memory on the G1 isn't so good, but does have a microSD slot and the Storm has 1GB built in and up to 8GB on memory card. I'm not sure which is the better option here.

When it comes to typing text messages and things the keyboard on the G1 is a real pop out keyboard and should be better than the others, but Apple and Blackberry keyboards aren't that bad being touch screen keypads. The Storm has a SureType mode though. It's personal preference that counts here.

Wi-Fi is a no go on the Storm. Either of the other two both have wi-fi though and because of this if your after a phone that does wi-fi you'd go for one of the others. Some people would say who needs wi-fi when you've got 3G, but if you've got a wireless router at home, it would be nice to connect through that.

The display resolution. The BlackBerry Storm offers a 3.25-inch display with 480 x 360 resolution at 184 ppi. The iPhone a 3.5-inch diagonal wide-screen with 480 x 320 resolution at 163 ppi and the G1 has a 3.2-inch HVGA display with 480 x 320 resolution. I think iPhone might win here.

Multimedia. The Storm supports MP3, WMA, AAC+, DivX, WMV, XviD & 3gp. The G1 supports MP3, WAV & WMA (not sure about other formats). And the iPhone supports iPod audio & video player. All 3 could be as good, but iPod audio might just swing it.

Applications. The Apple iPhone has the AppStore. The G1 will use Linux Google Androids own application depository. As far as i know the Storm will have something like the AppStore, but it will be called something like the StormApps. It's anyone's guess who wins out here.

Web Browsing. The iPhone uses Safari. The G1 will use Google Chorme. Storm will have some sort of HTML browser, but not sure what just yet.

Battery life. Who knows just yet, but i'm guessing all 3 will have about 5 hours of user time and will last a lot longer if not used that much. Most phones can last days in standby mode, but when the screen is on all the time, the battery goes down quickly. I'd give a big score to the phone with the best battery life, but i just don't know which is better.

Anyway which phone do you think is the best out of these three ?

I hate these kinds of gadgets. It just makes people ignorant of those around them and turns people into robots. Also, people will be stressed out using them, never free from being communicated with by the boss and clients with an ever-growing todo list. Terrible contraptions IMO  Tongue

I guess they come with inner ear plugs and adaptors so they work in your car whilst you are driving and even shopping in the supermarket with say a cart clip? Maybe they have voice recognition for dialling and answering the incoming calls so you can work on the move any time such as when walking, jogging or at the gym? Also, they have the vibrator alert to gently wake you in bed when an urgent call or email comes in during the night maybe?

Hmmm, i suppose if you do like these phones / PDA's it depends on what operating system you like best. The Apple iPhone uses it's own Apple OS. The HTC G1 uses Googles Android (linux) software. And the Blackberry Storm uses a new Blackberry operating system.
 Cool
I suppose with people changing phones every two years though, it won't matter which phone you like best because another better one is just round the corner.

At the moment i've got a HTC TYTN PDA Windows mobile phone. It's a bit old now though and i'm looking to buy one of the 3 phones above sometime around Christmas. I think i'll probably be buying the Blackberry Storm because i'm on the Vodafone network and want to stay that way.

Yes, i get an hour dinner time at work and sometimes get my mobile phone out to either play a few games or text message my wife. It's a lot easier text messaging on one of these PDA style phones. Oh and the phone i have at the moment also has google maps and works ok on the internet with it's opera web browser. The battery life isn't that good though. So you can see the reason i want an upgrade and want another PDA style phone.

Plus lots of people will be looking to upgrade to these style phones so i thought it might be a good idea to try and compare them.
Does anyone have any good photos of all three of them that can be posted on here ?
