Some of the pages I created online have made consistent money for several years without me doing hardly anything to update them.

The key is to create a site of useful unique information and include Adsense code on the pages, then you may make $100 a month or so for the rest of your life without doing any more work on the site.

Take any skill you have and write say 10 pages of great content about how to do what you do and include an adsense text unit on the top right of each page (the hot spot). It can be any topic, even "how to de-feather chickens" - you just have to get used to taking action and going through the process. Later you can produce a better site about say "how to raise chickens - never pay for an egg again". Everybody knows a bit more than average about something, or they can learn about it.

Also, register the site with dmoz.org and make a youtube video with a link from your description text to your site. This can get you started.

But the amount invested in PPC has been steadily increasing to maybe saturation point.

p.s. as much a fan I am of internet income streams, I want to say that I am making a lot more money right now by investing in stocks related to production of raw materials. And these stocks are still cheap. Experts are saying to get out of the USD and buy into gold and precious metals. A practical way to do this is to invest in foreign companies that produce raw materials such as gold, iron ore etc. as long as they have a healthy balance sheet, so they are likely to survive the economic crisis. These companies often have share prices at rock-bottom levels like 90% below historical peaks and share price fluctuations of 5% in a day. So if you buy low now, it could be a good idea. All IMO, no investment advice intended.

I agree the best and easiest way is to have adsense.  The easiest way used to be selling links on your website.  Unfortunately, search engines do not link this, so that is off the list.  I also like niche ecommmerce stores

It is surprising how many niches you come across that have a distinct lack of informative content. You could quite easily fill that void or just compile a to-do list like me problem is the list just keeps getting bigger.

Also, people don't necessarily know what to type into the search box to answer their question so we can still capture targeted traffic even with sometimes heavy competition because our unique content matches best with what they were searching for.
