Scientists intend to delay the arrival of 2009 by one additional second.
 Shocked
Timekeepers will tack on a "leap second" to the world's clocks on 31st December 2008 at 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds. It's the 25th leap second to be added since 1972. The last leap second to be added was back in December 2005. Leap seconds are added because the Earth is slowly slowing down mostly caused by the Earth's oceans.

Your going to have to hold off on those new years party's that little bit longer.

As far as i know, the BBC will be adding an extra pip to the countdown. That's 13 pips. WOW !
It would be good if big ben donged 13 times.
