If you have a lot of cash in banks that pay low interest and they may be at risk from bankruptcy consider the possibility of investing in distressed stocks that can change in price by up to around 8% per day.

This is incredible don't you think but when investment managers make actually billions per year in pay you should consider what is a good way and a bad way to invest in your future.

If you search on the web about hedge funds, you will find that they invest money on behalf of wealthy clients and they leverage the assets to the tune of 1 trillion dollars plus. So they are making money from your loss because they SHORT the market which means they bet on the stocks going down. So they make a fortune in the rapidly descending markets.

If you look at market falls they are always much faster than market gains.

The shorters can make terrible losses like we had with Nick Leason and Bearings bank. What we need to do is buy at these low prices with money that we can afford to lose in the chance that we can benefit from the usual upturn in prices that we get after all the crashes etc.

Today, 2 stocks in the UK stock market that I am invested in went up 4% and 5.6% at the time of writing. So if you had $10,000 in both of these stocks you could be looking at a daily gain of something like $1,800

Remember that the world stock markets are at the low points so there is a chance to get in now while the doom and gloom is maxing out. Some companies that pay regular dividends and consistently produce good profits are priced at around 1/3rd what they were at before the credit crunch happened and there market capitalization is at just 5x annual profits as opposed to say 20x in the good times.

So will you let this opportunity pass you by or are you gonna look on it with regret?

You are quite right and the same can be said of the property market. The economy is not going to stay in the doldrums for ever sooner or later things will start climbing again which means there is money to be made if you are canny.

My thinking about the property market is that there are several areas of leverage you can exploit for maximum gain:

* choosing the areas that are low in crime and unemployment
* thinking about who will buy the property and aiming to suit their needs
* buying a property that can be developed to add value at a profit
* considering creating a desirable property for a foreign buyer in your home country - this may apply well to people in say a nice warm place near low cost tourist areas such as Bulgaria. Plus, I would create a package involving cheap flights, helpers (people) and an info pack so it is very easy for people to buy with all their questions answered and support systems in place.

Also, you could sell your current home if possible and buy and live in these properties while you prepare them for resale.

But, I think the UK property market will be depressed for at least next year since so many people are losing their jobs plus the climate of fear about the economy. Those with nice homes in nice areas will stay put I think unless they lose their job.
