Well, i think everyone has seen the Honda robot that can walk up stairs, but i've not come across this before : -

The BBC link has a good video that shows a robot that can mimic human expressions in real time. I think in the next 20 years or so, robotics is really going to take off. Does anyone else have any robotics news ?

That's really impressive.

I saw a video on Youtube recently showcasing a "female" robot. At first glance, I mistook her for a human:

I think a lot of robots are being used in stores in Japan now to cut costs. Since they only need to greet people entering the store and say something as they leave. Also, the customers get so used to these people greeters that they don't tend to pay much attention to them so a robot can work just as well as a human but 24/7.

But is it a good thing? I mean what about the people that were preforming those jobs until they got fired and replaced by a chunk of electronics?

I feel sorry for the pretty young ladies that are being replaced by robots. Some guys now buy robotic dolls rather than look for a girlfriend - which is even more worrying.

When will the first marriage to a robot be I wonder?

They are already producing off springs I guess. I love the pretty store girls though.

I'm guessing that the most important robots will be the ones that get sent out in to space. I can't wait to see what happens when they send a robot to Saturn's moon Enceladus and Jupiter's moon Europa. I think those are the two places in our solar system that might have some sort of life.

Human like robots can't be too far away now though. It's just intelligent software that's needed to run them.

They are already here you just didn't realize you were talking to them! Watch out for cute-looking Japanese chicks.
