I'm sure everyone is aware of the results by now. Although I voted for McCain, I understand the many reasons why Obama won.

I chose not to support Obama because of his deceptive political rhetoric. That, and I'm opposed to big government. However, I hope that he takes good care of this country while he is in office. Perhaps in time I will find that I have misjudged him.

I think that in many countries people mostly choose lesser evil. From what I saw and read Obama looks promising to me, at least if he do at least part of what was promised it would be positive for whole world.
And at least he knows geography a bit so wouldn't confuse Iran with Iraq, he even was in Ukraine Wink

I've gotta respond here.   I don't trust Obama.  Simple as that.

Hope I find I too have misjudged him.    As Sensovision said , I too chose the lesser of two bad choices.   Maybe not actually evils!     Cry

I'm sure time will tell. till now history was best judge so guess this time it will be this way too, it's hard to judge sometimes people right away as sometimes you can see whole picture of real consequences only after some years would pass.

Anyway for now I don't see reason to be sorry or happy, let's just wait as politics are hard to predict.

In a funny kind of way obama reminds me a little of tony blair in that he always seems to say the right things. I suppose only time will tell whether he is any good or not.

Well, I personally favor Mccain over Obama and feel that he would have been better choice for America and the world.

And it seems like a Republican forum :> Tamuril and TexasLady

Here in America that has been especially true of some of our presidents.    Harry Truman is a good case in point.    Considered a dodo in office, he is remembered as an excellent president now. ("The Buck Stops Here.")

Sometimes a mediocre choice can rise  to greatness under the challenges of being President; other times the very popular choice can fall flat and be booed out of office when the time comes.   I'm afraid Bush will be a case in point of the latter.

I don't know the difference between Republican and Democrat ? I was watching the results more for the personality than the politics. All i know is that McCain was a lot older and Obama was the first coloured man to be President. I also thought McCains running mate (can't remember her name) was quite nice.

It just shows how much some of us English people actually know about American politics.

I think she's an idiot! and the only reason McCain picked her was to win over the Hillary votes.

Can you tell me what policy's you think are deceptive?

That sounds like a Republican talking point/buzz words that they use against Democrats every election cycle. Bush has overseen the biggest federal budget expansion since Roosevelt.

Actually I have to admit that when it comes to politic in my country in the past I was very aggressive when someone tried to convince me that their candidate is better, but after some time I realize that no matter who rule the country it wouldn't change much.
Hopefully new government in US change situation in whole world for more positive. As I've said before let's give time to politics for doing their job and see after year or two.

Denis, IMO the reason that nothing changes is because the politicians are not the ones running things it is the money people and the only change we will se is if it leads to the money people make more money.
