I now know what "Gimpsy" is (re post #9 July 13th by Denis....

"Gimpsy is spidered regularly by ALL the major search engines. Listing in Gimpsy significantly increases your chances of being found and spidered by the search engines, and Google is no exception.

A back link from Gimpsy is quite valuable and adds to the overall PageRank of your site in Google. If you choose the Promotion Option, your site will be promoted for 90 days within the categories to which it was accepted. SInce a very large proportion of the clicks at Gimpsy happen on one of the first five listed sites, being promoted (placed in a favourable position) may bring about significant number of clicks."

yup it's a bit unrelated so I decide to make separate thread of it since we didn't discuss www.Gimpsy.com here as it's pretty popular directory.
It brought to the web new concept of directory since it's use natural language categorization instead of traditional one used by most directories on the web. So it could be interesting for newbies but not only to use it as a resource of information. It's also SPAM free since all submissions reviewed by editors of Gimpsy and from what I see they include only good sites.

I couldn't agree that it's true in reality, since Gimpsy could be spidered by engines but e.g. on Google listing there will not help much since most of categories of Gimpsy has PR 1 or so... such PR wouldn't help much in PR boosting. But it would help with other engines which don't take popularity of site into considerations but only inbound link provided from the site.
As for traffic from it, I think that only sites on the top get some traffic since sites listed by me saw only few folks for several month from Gimpsy... But this could change in future if this directory become more popular and more people would use it, so I think it's worth checking since it's unique resource which is nicely done and easy in use.

I actualy did an interview with gimpsy not too long ago. I've just been in contact with the guy who runs it, and one of the senior editors from other sites that I have been on, and now they are actualy both members of my site.
