I use TradeDoubler for the banner adverts at the top of my website, but have not made any money at all by using them. Does anyone else use TradeDoubler and have you made any money ?

 Huh
BTW TradeDoubler could be a good banner advert program, but i don't think anyone who comes to my site clicks the banners or buys anything if they do click the banner.

Andy I've register with them but doesn't find any campaigns which would be good for my site and me(IMHO) so I've decide not to work with them at least yet... But I've similar experince with CJ, I've earn there 55 cents for about 1.5 year... after which they freeze my account Undecided Now I'm trying ShareASale and FineClick... second is my favorite since I've make more cash with it.

Hi,
I registered with them and i've had money from them (£33). The payment is VERY slow as they wait before they are paid but they do pay which is the main thing.

the best program on TradeDoubler is there own one. I made about £16 off that.

When i use them i only go for PPC.

Interesting posts.

I make/made money off Trade-doubler by keyword-focussed content pages if that makes any sense  Roll Eyes

Ha Ha, the banner at the top of the page scam! No money there. I learn't that early on.

Use the top banner only for your own branding purposes or as some subliminal message to the person viewing your page. Get the click further down after they have read your text guiding them to the click.

I still try the lazy, cut and paste banner at the top of the page but they don't convert. Maybe they give your site some credibility in that you have been deemed worthy to host these peoples banners?

Why not consider what someone visiting your page will do next? And provide them a relevant link near their exit point. One key lesson I learnt is that surfers want to surf. They got to your page, now where do they go next? Help them make that decision.

For Tradedoubler, CJ you really need to build a site around the advertiser rather than have adverts on your site which you hope will attract income.

Tradedoubler are probably the biggest European Affiliate Program and I think there are a number of sites out there that make money from them - They do tend to be shopping sites though which basically provide a gateway/doorway page to the merchants.

For a quick look of the types of sites I am talking about do a Google search for UK Shops - http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&q=uk+shops , most of the first page are shopping networks that have built themselves around the affiliate networks list of merchants - you can probably guess that these types of sites do work well with Tradedouber, CJ etc.

The other type of site that may do well out of these type of networks I feel are communnity sites that are able to rely on their visitors to give them support - eg A Forum could call on its members to support them by buying their books from XYZ Bookshop and insert a link with the tracking ID.

And yes, Banner Ads dont work    Sad

Hi Dayo,

a great post and I agree with what you are saying.

Building pages around affiliate programs is a great way for someone stuck for ideas to make an ecommerce website rather than simply pasting banner code at the top of pages. It can be amazing how much you can make off one page in this way! If only by one pay check - can't post figures as I was reminded in other post  Tongue

Also, your comment on forum-based sites is interesting in suggesting that loyalty-based clicks or sympathetic clicks are another strategy worth considering.

actually it could be said that weblamp sites arise from building site to rotate CJ banners but with time it's changed a bit Wink as for loyalty-based clicks I think they are against TOS of most advertisers...

Phoenix - yes loyalty based clicks is against the TOS on CPC advertising but advertiser where you have to buy something and the publisher gets a percentage is normally OK and encouraged by most advertisers Smiley

yeah, agree I don't see anything wrong in deals where people should buy somehting in order publisher get credits, if users of community really wish to do this why not let them. Actually I saw such things done on some other forums where forum staff make wish list in the signature field with referring code and earn some money when people buy through link...

CJ has once again blitzed my other affiliate programs this month. Rock on CJ! But I have to say this is down to some few select merchants.

The sales are not via top of page banners though.

Yeah they are text/graphical mid page. I tried gotomypc which is about remote control of your pc to work from home on your work pc. A great idea capitalising on the parents missing their kids growing up while they work late in the office. Plus they are endorsed by PC magazine. The others are credit card ads for which I have a specialist site.

However I'm experimenting on the page with the hits for gotomypc with other programs since despite good revenue cos of high payouts the CTR was low. i.e I'm fine tuning the page for maximum income now I have a benchmark to work on.
