I noticed many bloggers are now closing down their blogs or moving more towards closed membership sites.

What they are finding is that the readers are milking them for information but they are not getting rewarded for the work.

In the past, I have emailed fellow bloggers to suggest to them that they are putting in far too much effort into their posts IMHO. Like they purchase cool images to go with every post. I am not attacking them but wanted to help them minimize their time waste and investment.

Personally, I don't like to spend more than 30 minutes on a blog post since I can say a lot in text in that time frame, but I was concerned to see some bloggers spending all day long just blogging. Now they are abandoning their blogs.

A blog is a good way to get initial exposure and site authority, but it seems like a good strategy to abandon it after say 6 months and channel your efforts into writing content for your money-making sites and linking to them from the blog. I have found that writing the content for one page that promotes a product can make a lot of long term residual income, but a blog post only generates traffic.

Many of the blogs I worked on got up to 100 visitors daily and made no money, but advertising pages with as low a 2 visitors per day can make over $100 a year. Some single pages made $70 a day some-days where they marketed a $97 eBook.

Today I spent 30 minutes writing content for a page on a credit card site, the Ads on this kind of site can generate $1 per click on a link so it could well be better time spent than blogging.

On some other sites, I wrote just a paragraph or so on a handful of pages and they crank in cash from feed-based affiliate sites.

So, if you are posting a lot of content to the web maybe as a forum poster or blogger, you may want to re-think your strategy and maybe channel your content publication efforts to your own web sites that market products.

A blog can also be a good credibility builder for future sites that you may want to develop for income.
