Do you like to watch Olympics?
Personally I always watch Olympic Games when they start. It really great when athletes from all corners of the world get together and starting to compete.

I would like to watch, especially the running events.

However, I am not set up well to watch TV any more. Internet Marketing addiction took over from TV.

I used to enjoy watching the Olympics. I have a television, but it is only used to watch DVDs. I have not had any cable for years.

I've been reading the news and observing the overall results. I am American, so I was happy to see Phelps take so many golds. He must be proud of himself. Certainly an achievement like that requires a lot of hard work.

There have been complaints on the radio about the poor camera angles for the female competitions-- has anyone noticed that? As I stated at the beginning of this post, I haven't actually watched any of it.

Phelps apparently has the ideal body composition for a swimmer: big feet and hands, wide reach, long torso and minimal body fat.

I didn't notice any problem with camera angles (is it to do with political correctness?) but I think they must have different feeds for various countries since on Japanese TV, most of the events are focused on oriental competitors as you might expect.

Yeah, Phelps is real swimming monster. Americans are the best swimmers.
I watched women's marathon race. It was terrifying. They were running 42 kilometers and the 38 years-old Romanian woman won.

Maybe you meant "it was terrific" or was it the muscles of the women (they have lot's of stamina which can be useful)?

I watched the opening ceremony and the first few days of the Olympics.   But almost all NBC (the American Network) showed was exactly what you said above Wolf.   They are playing to their audience and emphasizing American and Chinese athletes.   The athletes are beautifully conditioned in all fields and I love looking at them because I'm a blowzy (LOL) old woman who could lose 100 lbs, work out for a year, and still never look that good!

But then I started asking myself - where are all the other countries?    Why do they not show field and other little known sports?    Why do they, at the awards ceremonies, feature only the American or Chinese winners, etc. etc.   Then I quit watching.   It became boring.  I do hate this P.C. stuff that goes on all the time.    Especially with China's record on human right, invasive security, etc. ad nauseum.

So now I've had my say and I will step down from the podium.    Lips Sealed    Roll Eyes    Angry

I can understand if NBC mostly showed U.S athletes it's a U.S network. The games were for 2 weeks you would never have enough time to watch all countries compete on one station. I would think that maybe the stations around the world would also show their athletes more.  I did watch other nations play on the USA network and HDNET. I never did get to watch a basketball game. Undecided

I would like to see football as a olympic sport also. ( and I'm not talking about soccer) Tongue Grin

I think that those women are really crazy to run 42 kilometers.

OK, I get it. Yeah it is a long run in that kind of environment  Shocked

But they have the chance to be Olympic champions so if some people pull out of the race then it helps them.

I would still run myself unless it is dangerous to do so, but then you can always wear a breathing filter maybe?

Just walking in London filled my nostrils with black gunge so I don't think Beijing air would be as bad as some other inner cities.
