Interestingly, this was not inspired by the 'spam or marketing' thread I started.

On a another forum I frequent, and on this one as well, I have been using some smileys I have hosted on my own website. The reason for this was simply that the smiley service I was using was down. Rather than using an image hosting service I just used them right from my website; which also made it easy to remember the urls.

Turns out that, I should have figured this, being that some others liked my smileys they started using them as well; still linked to my site. Small images that won't amount to much bandwidth wise, but, nonetheless being that someone was going to use my smileys I decided to change where the smileys were hosted, therefore changing the url, ahem...to one of my adult sites. Roll Eyes

This had me thinking of a completely unoriginal idea used by many websites already, of putting a page of smileys on one of my sites to which people I have invited can use those smileys on any forum they wish.

It would be a relatively small collection of around 50 smileys. I have seen this done on other websites where you click on the smiley and the link for it, already formatted for forums, would show up in a small textbox below the smileys.

I'm thinking that this could be done in CSS, but being that I am not that familiar with CSS I wanted to ask you all if you think it can be done in CSS.

I found a Javascript for this.

I put it onto my old portal template here: http://5g8.net (it's the third window down)

Have any ideas of how to get forum tags to be included in the textbox?

Yes, you should study how to program Javascript. Seriously, if you are building custom sites its very important to know how to code.

Check out tizag.com or w3schools.com

You need to have a pop-up window to list the code for myspace and forums etc.

I have not updated the smiley script yet, but I have added to the site.

I was trying to get the forum hosting script to run on the hosting for this site, but no luck. Rather, I have added a forum using the Lofts site forum hosting, as the script ran on that hosting without a glitch, and I have just simply added a link to the forum where someone can get their own forum, which will take them to the Lofts site.

The directory, which is just a page that says 'coming soon' is not going to be a full fledged directory; I am just going to add a free links page to the site, bump up the categories, add word filters to it, and leave it at that.
