I have a domain with privacy and is registered with Tucows/Ipowerweb. The privacy must be removed/updated before I can transfer the domain to new registrar. The update feature is broken and Tucows/Ipowerweb will not fix. Any suggestions in how to force them to fix the privacy feature so the transfer can go through?

I think when I was with IPower web I had to go to a particular registrar that they used for the domain names to transfer it. Sorry, I forget which one it was, maybe bulkregister? But I think I was given a special link from Ipower. It was a few years back. A few web searches for forum discussions around the web may get you the answer. I think my domain name was locked and had to be unlocked.

If a registrar refuses to unlock privacy feature, i think it's worth contacting ICANN, they should have some sort of form to filled in so that your issue will be handled by them.

Back in 2001 I had similar problems. I finally transfered it to godaddy and I never looked back. Of course I live in the USA and that may be different with others who live outside of the US. Seems to me I had to call them to access that certain page, best of my memory here today. Sorry I can't remember so well today. I still use enomcentral.com   some only because they still have some of my monies still in their account. Like registryfly used to do me or was that registerfly.com ? I like godaddy.com the best till you forget to renew a great name like my own business addy and they want 80 dollars to get it back. Then when that Tornado hit my house and I lost all connections during that terrible storm ice storm too, well anyway, long story short, I lost my www.webmakrexpress.com to an Aussie. So there's 9 years of owning my own domain name twirling down the drain along with my roof, cars and trees. But who wants to hear bad news, here's some good news,... I am in Alaska at my daughters house for 30 days and she has windows 98 that terrible Blue screen of death contraption, but I cut my teeth on this kind of machine so I have it running like a striped cat, Yehaw! How's that for good news? oohdale is back at lest till the end of May. They said to cheer up things could be worse, so I cheered up and sure enuff they got worse. LOL

I was thinking about another way you may try to get it changed. Open up another account there where you have your domain name at and then Push it to your new account and don't choose Locked when cchanging your info there. Use your wifes name or if your not hitched then use your middle name for the new account. I did that once and it worked for me. Like when I changed my username oohdale to oohdale2 and they never even noticed. Now that will work. Many people have many accounts when being a reseller they have to have different accounts.
