If Bill Gates paid you to switch to Windows Vista and never go back to Linux, how many USD would you demand?

Not a bad question Andy and to be completely honest I don't know if I could agree at any amount because you add the part of never go back to Linux. I you had said never go back to Mepis then maybe I could do that. On the other hand maybe I could switch to Mac then I guess I would want about $50,000.00 after taxes.

I expect that a fixed price offer would be on the table with no guarantee of any future offer. This would be pitched to tempt maybe 90% of users to switch over. I would guess that $2,000 per user would be enough to make it work. So 1 billion USD would buy 500,000 Linux users maybe?

It could be paid monthly and funded by Ads and selling of personal information, so the budget could be effectively unlimited. Some people would need more Ads thrown at them depending on how resistant they are to responding to Ads.  Grin

well said, Manu! Smiley
And of course if I can go to Mac I could live with this probably, or maybe got enough money to develop my own OS Smiley

BTW for everyone who have a doubts, you can always take a money for not using Linux, there is always FreeBSD which isn't actually Linux but very similar to it and share same programs Grin
