These days, you need to publish your idea fast to the web before it is old news and other people have copied it with a better website or search engines already found better sources of this information.

Here are some ideas to get ahead of the competition:

The news breaks and you want to publish it to the web. What you need to do is crystalize the topic of the news in a short headline.

If you operate a bog, then this is a fairly straight forward task. You make a new post with this topic in the headline of the post and ping the various news aggregation sites.

So how can we better this techique? Maybe, a way is to anticipate news and build a tree of pages on related subject matter. Then this tree will be pre-crawled by search engines and you can quickly link to it from a blog post.

I am just thinking aloud here as ways to compete with big news sites.

that's truth! Actually I've already made such mistake in the past wasting too much time and not realizing ideas, if I do it now I'll have to compete with sites which were open during this period...

Good advices, Andy! thanks for sharing them, as your posts frequently inspirate me for various things.(BTW today your post solved my dillema about content for my first page, it was actally obvious but I just didn't thought about such solution before I read your thread ).
