There is an explosion of social networking going on. If you didn't notice, maybe you should switch off the T.V. or un-install your games and go and check out the real virtual-world!

But, alongside this new trend is a problem of people registering your name! Don't let them clone you, go claim your name now before some low life does it for you.

What motivated me to do this was reading about how a famous marketing guru was cloned and people thought they were joining his network of friends, 1000's of people. And, there are no laws to stop this as far as I know.

But don't panic too much since I don't think most social networks are worth bothering with. But 2 are: Twitter and Blogger.

I claimed my name at both today. Here's my 1st post on the subject here: http://awilkes.blogspot.com/

Hmmm... thanks for the information. Although I doubt anyone would ever be interested in stealing my name, I went ahead and registered an account at Twitter. I will have to explore their services a bit more.

Apparently I had already registered with Blogger nearly 4 years ago. I barely even remember it. Maybe I'll reopen it. I'll find something to post about.

I wouldn't be so sure. With domain names, they are registered if there is only the slightest hint that they may be of some value. If you are active online then people may think there is a possibility to trade cash for names registered at free sites. Like with emails, but they are not so good since simple email names attract natural spam.
