I've always wondered about India and what holidays they actually have in winter. I assume that Xmas if celebrated than not very widely and only by Christians.
What about New Year, is it big national holiday like in our country which give day off to most workers and everyone is partying?

Well New Year is indeed celebrated in India. And in last few years there has been an increase in New Year Buzz and celebrations in urban India.

Christmas is also celebrated on a very noticeable scale. But not on the scale, the west does it. It is infact shopping season in India but not as big as the  Diwali shopping season.

Christmas is official holiday in India but new year is not. However schools do have a week holiday from Christmas to New Year.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Smiley

Really don't have much idea about it. Well as far as non Christians are concerned, they celebrate it by organizing a small party or attending a public christmas function.

There are many. Infact some places get snow 6 months a year like Kashmir, Manali etc. etc.

that's cool! wish we have some region here where snow would be at least one month, but currently it seems that whole Ukraine got warmer weather and even mountains could hardly see some snow.
