I just got back from watching this movie. Very good but scary in places. Starring Will Smith.

Better not to mention the plot so it doesn't spoil it for you.

If you must see a trailer, here it is: http://iamlegend.warnerbros.com/ But better not to know much about it before you go I think.

It looks very good to me. I'm not a big fan of scary movies, but as long as they're not overly violent I can handle them. Will Smith is one of the few actors I still appreciate these days. I'm usually very happy with his choices in roles.

There are some very scary bits but only in short bursts (but the rating is 13+ so maybe just my problem?). Overall, it's a great movie I think and better if you don't know anything about the plot before you watch it.

I have not seen the movie, but this is the third movie based on the Richard Matheson novel; this being the first one to use the name of the novel.

The other two are:

The Last Man on Earth (1964) which starred Vincent Price.

and

The Omega Man (1971) which starred Charlton Heston.

Despite being based on the same novel, they all three take liberties with the story (The Last Man on Earth is considered to be the most faithful to the book) enough that they could be considered different movies and not remakes of each other.

And could you kindly name them; aside from the two I mentioned, which were based on the same book?

28 days and 28 days later. their both pretty much based on the same theme. a desese wips out an area then theres a hunt for the cure. most of the film reminded me of 28 days.

also the one from the computer game. carnt rember what it was called. a sientist accidently creats a desese in a lab and ifects half of america while one person hunts for the cure and to try and stop it.

all pretty much the same story line.

Uh...you do realize that the movie was based on the novel of the same name, which was released in 1954?

I have not seen this movie and am not defending it, but it seems kind of silly to say it is repeating the storyline of a movie made 50 years after the novel on which this one is based. I'm not saying that 28 Days Later did not have any influence, or any other such film as well, as they well could have influenced the cinemaphotography and direction styles.

I really don't see any relation between the Sandra Bullock 28 Days movie and I am Legend. Tongue

The movie you were intending to say, I presume, is 28 Weeks Later.

Is this going to be available on Blue-Ray DVD? I would like to compare old with new.

The novel was released in 1954, not the movie.

Two previous movies have been made based on the novel:

The other two are:

The Last Man on Earth (1964) which starred Vincent Price.

I wouldn't hold my breath about blue-ray anytime too soon for the older films.

Not a big fan of Indiana Jones, but I do enjoy Harrison Ford. It will be interesting to see what they do with this movie.

I finally got around to seeing I Am Legend. I thought it was pretty good.
I never could get into Omega Man. I found I Am Legend much more watchable.

I have yet to see The Last Man on Earth.
