A relatively new way to promote your site is by creating a video that you upload to video sharing sites such as YouTube.

The video could be of you talking to a web cam or on screen action as you perform tasks on your computer. At the beginning and the end of the video, you can insert a fixed image advertising your site and URL.

Also, in your profile information at the video site, you can link to your web site.

I am looking into doing this myself soon. I uploaded videos before but not for marketing purposes so it should be interesting to see how it works to generate website traffic.

In fact I am thinking of making lot's of tutorial videos once I can get a system going where I am happy with the quality of my output.

I would suggest that your first be a tutorial of making a tutorial. I feel that when you teach something then you learn how to do it the best you can and if you intend on making tutorials then teaching others how will help you become better at it.

Links and accurate information provide the best answer, while garbage in provides garbage out.

YouTube seems to be an excellent way to get promoted. I have heard of several instances where people would have never been recognized by the "general public" if it were not for YouTube.

I do tend to avoid YouTube simply because it's filled with garbage, but I am one of few that object.

(I realize that this topic was about video sharing sites in general, but I'm just offering up my .02 on YouTube at the moment.) Also, the only other video sharing site I actually use is Google Video. I can't say I've done much exploring elsewhere.

Good idea but I would maybe hold off on publishing that from the beginning.

My site for this project will be excelorize.com The mission will be to encourage people to excel at what they do when they decide to build a web site or get involved in Internet Marketing rather than just playing with it. So each of my tutorials will go beyond just the basic method of doing something. I hope to teach people how to do it the best way they possibly can so they get great results rather than disappointing results.

It will make me focus more on how  I do things online as well and question/analyse the methods I am using.

So this site should vacuum in people that are struggling or newbies and get them on the right track. Forums can help in this respect but people have to go around in loops asking questions and sifting through mountains of information. I am thinking about tutorials that go from the bottom up i.e. from having no website or domain name or even an idea.
