I just posted a topic called "email filters" and the logged out and decided to take a second look at the topic, but did so without logging in and found that the text of the topic had a popup advertisement in it labeled content link and it was about "send email". What I want to know is how this was done? I think it would be a good way to provide more information for words, phrases or even pictures within a paragraph.

I guess it uses the mouseover event with Javascript. If you use the Web Developer plugin for FireFox you can view the Javascript via the Information Tab  Wink All the elements on a web page can be connected with Javascript via the DOM. The ID tag is often used to label an HTML element to reference it by your Javascript code.

I tried that but couldn't make any headway.
However! I think I found a way to do what I have been trying to do. However, I found I could not do it quite like I wanted to. The JavaScript wouldn't work as I could not figure out how to have one script in the head that would work for many different words with each word showing different information in the popup text block unless I used a JavaScript listing in the head for each word. The CSS located on an external style sheet method worked but it kept placing the text at the beginning of a line like it was a new paragraph. I found though that by using inline CSS styling and some external style sheet I am able to create the effect I wanted. The problem is this method shows up as hidden text. I'm not going to worry about that because the purpose is to provide more information to my visitors that want it while allowing others to not be bothered by it. When I get a page with some of the text linking going I'll post a link to help others understand what I have been up to.

It's good that you are making some headway. Btw. I forgot to mention that the technical term for this technology is DHTML which could come in handy when searching for info. on the web or code examples. It's basically a way to create dynamic effects on a web page via the client's web browser without having to reload pages from the web server. Flash, Java and Active X are other technologies that spring to mind that do a similar thing.
