Stunning Affiliate Payouts

I am seeing a move from companies relying more and more on the skills of affiliates to generate sales. I think the reason is that a sales page and a page recommending a sales page are different beasts. Affiliates are the experts in generating traffic and the merchant should be the expert in extracting money from the credit card, so both people (skills) are required to get the sales flowing.

Here is a snippet from John Chow's blog:

If you are curious at what MidPhase is paying affiliates per month. 75% of 4,000 clients a month is 3,000 clients from affiliates. Their site says they pay $85 per client minimum, that means at the very least they are paying out $255,000 per month to affiliates. That means this next year at the very least they will be paying 3 million dollars in payments ($3,060,000)!

Wow, that's big money don't you think?

I was surprised by how much in sales a small niche content site I built is making. It generated over $1,000 in sales in October and the commission is rivaling my total Adsense monthly commission.

So it looks like the easy money days of Adsense are over and there is a move back towards Affiliate marketing. Also, there seems to be more webmasters cutting out the middleman and selling Ads and sponsorship directly from their sites. Times are a changin'
