it seems that things around us become smaller and smaller each day and digital cameras aren't exclusion. Looks like Sony made one of the smallest cameras, it's look like some sort of spy camera from old movies  Cool

Here's my entry: http://www.vistaquestusa.com/prod_pages/digital_camera/models/VQ-1005BL.htm

Barely larger than a matchbox.

Even though they classify it as a 1.3 MP camera, its high quality mode is 2 megapixels; 1.3 megapixels is the default.

It is a fixed focus model, but it does have a selector switch for infinity or portrait focus.

It also takes, amazing for its size, an SD memory card.

One thing I also like about it is that it is designed to collapse into itself for carry, like the old Minox spy camera. When it is collapsed the lens is covered and protected.

Oh, and it is cheap. In the US, I picked one up at my local Walmart for $20 USD.

Wow, previously I thought that my interest to small cameras fade long time ago, I've posted Sony rather as interesting news but never was interested in camera myself but after reading what you wrote about this 20$ camera and checking it specs I've start thinking about getting one myself and test it.
As previously things which stopped me was either built-in accumulators, proprietary software to download photographs which would make me problem under Linux and/or very low quality of shots.

Bob, maybe you can post some shots and post feedback about it's quality?

I've had the camera for a while, but I've yet to have the opportunity to use it. I'm either working or on the computer; neither one provides much opportunity for pictures. Grin

What little camera collecting I did was largely spy cameras. I have a handful of 16mm pocket cameras and Hit type cameras. I also have two of the smallest 35mm cameras made; one being a Minox and one being a Rollei (neither work right as they both have a history of electronics failures, not to mention trying to find replacements for the mercury batteries).

Spy cameras, in addition to being fun and being more about the kid in us, have the additional advantage of taking up less space.

I'd imagine you have access to some nice collectibles that are not that expensive, Denis. There are some nice Russian made half-frames and a really cool cigarette pack camera.

The nicest spy camera I ever had was the Darling-16. Picked it up in a second hand store for only a few bucks, before I learned how incredibly rare it is. Check on eBay, and, if there is one on there, it will probably go for a minimum of $1000. Unfortunately, mine got lost in a move.

too bad, but if you decide that don't need one day maybe you'll sell it to me through Ebay or some other way? as I didn't found shops which ship it to my location.

don't wish to disappoint you but in reality we don't have such kind of shops as in Europe and US which sold such items, of course you can find something rare on the local market for low price usually, but you need to be lucky and attend it regularly to find something interesting.

I'll check it out, too bad that you lost your camera Undecided But maybe you'll find it some day, I can say from experience that although we have move around 10 years ago, I still find some things lost(well packed in box which was never opened later) in those times Roll Eyes

I've believe that I have seen it carried on Amazon, but, as you said, that is dependent upon whether they will ship to you. I'll keep an eye out for any dealers who may ship worldwide.

Actually, the two times I have bought a Russian camera, it was shipped from Russia. One was a half-frame, the other was the Sputnik Stereo camera. The majority, at least then, of eBay sellers I had seen offering Russian cameras were Russian. They'd sell the camera, payment would be sent to a stateside money broker, and the camera would be shipped from Russia. I don't know if these same eBay sellers would be willing to sell within borders or not.

I like several models of Russian cameras. The Sputnik became one of the more affordable stereo cameras, and it was medium format (it was basically two Lubitels joined together). Other cameras have simply been cool; impractical, but cool.

It's gone. It was with a group of items that, I found out later, was sold off to a flea market dealer despite specific instructions to keep the items. Several thousands worth of collectibles was in that collection.

Unfortunately Amazon ship to my region only books, no electronic, plants and other items could be bought there, which is very disappointing as it have a lot of interesting things Tongue
I would be very appreciate if you let me know about any company which ship worldwide, I even consider making list of companies I worked myself in the past...

the truth is that such stuff is sold overseas simply because seller could get better money for it... For example I was looking for Geiger counter in the past and found few with acceptable prices, but the shipping for some sellers was US only and some have high shipping costs...
