I just got back from a spectacular Fireworks display here in Japan. There are several of these in summer and they are free to attend. I have lots of photos and some videos of the fireworks which I will try and upload to the web in the next day or so.

Can you believe that two of the fireworks were 1 meter in diameter and weighed 250Kgs each? They were set off 500 meters away in the sea and there was a shock wave that hit me in the chest as one was fired off. I only captured 2 photos of the 1st one but got a video of the second. However, the 2nd one was supposed to explode in the air but it did so from the surface.

These fireworks are nearly all rockets that go off high in the sky. Can't wait to show you people.

That sounds wonderful. It will be interesting to see the displays coming from Japan. I get to see a very nice display of  fireworks almost every year (not this year, though) on 4th of July. The city displays them from boats on our bayshore.

Those fireworks look fantastic! #2 and #3 seem especially so, because I have not seen fireworks quite like those before. I had my suspicions that Japan would have unique displays. Wink

Thanks for sharing these.

I saw some more tonight which were different and I think more spectacular since there were many fireworks coordinated together in a cacophony of light and colors. I didn't take so many pictures since you can miss out on the fun behind the camera lens. I hope to post some pics from this display too in the near future.

it seems you've got nice fireworks there!
I like #1, 4 and 5. Wonder if you posted explosion of 250Kgs rocket here?

BTW have you handhold the camera as there are traces which usually appears when camera are shacking? And is white strips with traces on the #3 are artifact from camera movement or effect of explosion?

I was hand holding the camera so there will be some shake issues. Also, I drank some beer  Grin

I will post some more pictures soon. Today I was busy with a beach party. I reached 80KMH on a jet ski (1200cc). Wave jumping plus towing a banana boat. Lot's of fun except I got some sun burn.

so those strips on #3 appeared from hand's movement?

I'm a bit sunburned as well as spend weekend on the beach Smiley Wonder when jet ski will appear here, I wish to try it one day. Looking forward to see your shots.
