I think the title of the thread is a problem. Like SensoVision suggests, you should be looking at building unique and informative content rather than using tools. Tools imply that they involve simply powering up and pressing a button like a power tool for use in drilling holes. But if you want your hole to be noticed you have to do your own unique thing such as having a detailed perimiter and varied bore contour. Otherwise it's just another hole.

Many years ago there were tools that did such things as keyword density checking and monitoring of keyword positioning but now it mostly boils down to plain old posting of new fresh content. Also it is free to generate your own content. If you want to get radical then post video content to places such as YouTube.com

Sorry, I forgot that prior to publishing web pages, keyword research is important and tools to help with this are valuable. Thanks for pointing out some resources Manu.

Are you suggesting we should use back link analysis tools on our competitors to find which sites are likely to give us back links?

Manu, maybe you have some strategy here you could mention?  Smiley

Well, backlinks analysis tools can be used to on competitors to find possible link partners. But, I also use it for keyword research in deciding if I would be able to beat certain site for the mentioned keyword or not. That really helps in my keyword research.

http://www.online-utility.org/webmaster/backlink_domain_analyzer.jsp is one of the my fav tools as it lists the domains that linked to the domain you provided in judging if the site is beatable or not. It also gives me an estimate if the site is an authority one and how much it would be worth to get links on it. I use this tool for every step of my SEO. Keyword research, Link Building, link buying, competition watch etc.

Wordze is my fav. keyword research tool, much better than Wordtracker IMO. I have not tried keyword discovery coz of its price so can't say about it.

http://www.domain-pop.com and http://www.smartpagerank.com/pagerank-backlinks.php are pretty good backlink analyzers letting me know from where exactly the links are coming from with their pr, anchor text, nofollow etc.

I do Back link analysis on competitors to find potential backlinks partners.
