It's true, I was given a free car today! It's a Subaru Imprezza Turbo. Fully road legal and including half a tank of gas. Think of all the money most people pay to buy a car and yet I get given one for free!

I was going to explain how I pulled this off, but I think I should create an e-book on the subject and sell it.

Since quiting my job and downsizing my life I am not really finding many problems with having much less income. Probably because I now have much more money (rather than stuff) and much more free time. In fact I have a better lifestyle than when I was working full time. But I did make some dramatic changes to the way I live such as changing country and selling almost everything I owned.

It could be down to the law of attraction. If you want things and believe you will get them, you tend to find these things manifesting themselves in your life, good or bad. Like the car. I was going to buy one and realized that it would be a waste of money since a bike is all I really need but I missed having a car for the odd times when I could simply drive for fun with my car enthusiast friends. So I kind of gave up on the idea of buying a sports car, our family already has a practical wagon-style car. But then a friend had a spare car that he simply gave to me to look after.

I think the minimalist concept is an interesting one. I have found that I can live without most things and have done so successfully. Necessity is key.

On British TV I used to watch a program about de-cluttering people's lives. I was like those people with a garage, shed and loft stuffed full of junk. Now it's all gone (apart from some things I kept at my parents house, but it blends in well with their large amount of junk) and I only have a bare minimum of things in my new home. It's great to have more space than you need rather than filling up the space you have. Now it would be easy to move house but before it was a nightmare.

By looking after this car I have to go jet skiing with the owner every now and then since he used the car to go to the beach so it did have some strings attached  Wink But at least I don't need to buy my own Jet Ski! I think the hardship of going to the beach and playing around on a high-powered jet ski is a small price to pay for the free use of a good car.

Sounds like a good deal to me. Grin

It's a good deal apart from I had to sort it out. I removed the things that made it look uncool like the snow tires, bull bars and rear spare tire holder.

Also I polished out scratches and re-sprayed the turbo air intake.

Now I need the brakes overhauled. I hope to do a deal with the mechanic to make a web site for his business, so hopefully I can get the job done for less.

But it is a powerful beast of a car. It will be fun to test it out once the brakes are sorted.
