Recently I've become user of http://del.icio.us and found that it could useful to bookmark certain threads directly from forum so yesterday, installed del.icio.us button at the instrument panel(just near reply button which is found in every thread of the forum).
Wonder how many people would find it useful. Let us know your opinion.

after having del.icio.us for one month on the site and increasing volume in visitors from this service, I thought that it's worth to put buttons for other popular services so people could easily bookmark threads without wasting time on cutting dynamic part of URLs.
So for now I've put buttons for Digg, Furl, Reddit, Stumble Upon, Google Bookmarks and Technorati. Hope it would be useful for members and guests of our site and make bookmarking task a bit easier.

BTW I would appreciate to hear how it affect overall thread look, does it drag your attention during reading or it's ok to leave them as is?

Very good idea, Denis. I have noticed more and more people using these services recently. I myself just started using del.icio.us and have bookmarked several forum topics for easy access.

I would have to say that I did not notice them at first. I don't think they drag my attention, and I have no complaints about where they are located.

I'm using them myself too for similar tasks, as my offline bookmark list is getting pretty big and keeping there forums bookmarks would make using of it even less comfortable, social bookmarking working for this better and as addition let other people know about what's interesting is discussed on the web.

that's good, as I considering to change every button in one colortheme or use pale colors for buttons if people find them distracting.

BTW if you use del.icio.us or other service it's better to use buttons from the site not buttons on browser, as many sites have dynamic URLs and buttons on the site usually cut dynamic part, so your bookmark would match bookmarks made by others and boost ranking of the particular URL. I guess you may already know this so I've posted thing for general info Smiley

I haven't used these services yet but the extra little buttons are not a concern for me and may cause me to try them sometime.

I am using http://www.addthis.com/ which provide you with one button for all the popular social bookmarking sites. It saved me time visiting all the various bookmarking sites.

The buttons on weblamp are not a problem for me.

Thanks for feedback, Don and Andy!
BTW I've considered http://www.addthis.com/ but decide not use side code and install button of several bookmarking services for experiment, I pick those which either popular generally or know to be used by people of our forum(that's how Technorati got here Wink ).
Later I'll see which one bring most visitors and other which aren't popular would probably gone and wouldn't use up space.
Right now I can say that reddit, digg, del.icio.us and Stumbleupon almost surely be on the list as they already show some nice results Smiley (for reference I've bookmarked only one thread in them just for test, except del.icio.us which I've used previously for some interesting discussions)
