Recently, my btother made a video for Ron Paul with a good soundtrack that used 2 different music themes, text on top of the video and of course, the video. What procedure would best tell me HOW he did this? If I wanted to make my own video-what steps would best be taken?

welcome aboard! Unfortunately I doesn't deal with video for long time. I'm not sure what programs are used in Windows(I'm on Linux) now for video processing but when I was on Windows these was programs like Adobe Premiere, Ulead Video Studio, Sound Forge(I think it also allowed you to make some basic video editing).
So I guess that you need to get some of video post processing software, maybe trial version and try it out.

Maybe someone of our members dealt with video more than me so would be able to give you better tips, than I did Tongue

Thanks for the input and thanks for the greeting. I downloaded a program called Movavi Videosuite. Does anyone have any input on this program before I buy it?

never heard of it but 60$ per license seems a bit expensive for product of not known brand IMHO...
if you don't afraid to try out Linux I can recommend you to check out http://www.kinodv.org/ it wouldn't cost you a cent.

I appreciate that. The Movavi is what youtube recommends. But I guess they are making something off of it. Does the one you recommend allow you to do your own soundtracks and text images in the video?

I think most edit software support such features, although I can't be 100% sure as never used Kino for such purpose.
Here is the list for features available: http://www.kinodv.org/article/static/2 There is something caled titler but if say truth I'm not sure if it's filter which let you insert text or something else.
I don't have it installed right now so can't check out this features, sorry Tongue

Well, I'm just going to have to do some digging and find out what can and can't be done. I appreciate your input very much.

my pleasure, sorry I can't help you more right now as I'm pretty busy, but feel free to post questions if you got any. If I'm not wrong Kino should be integrated in Knoppix or Ubuntu so using their live CDs you don't have even to install Linux you can just try them out booting from CDROM or DVD reader.

YouTube accepts video files from most digital cameras, camcorders, and cell phones in the .WMV, .AVI, .MOV, and .MPG file formats.

So if you are working in the Windows environment, it is easy and free. You can use Windows Media Encoder to make simple videos. For more advanced stuff I like to use Pinnacle Studio. My friend always recommends Sony Vegas. Also I used Ulead Media Studio which I used to make an AVI for Google videos. The process is to capture, edit, render and upload in those 4 steps. The rendering is where your video gets converted to the acceptable file format. The edit phase is where the software varies from free to seriously expensive  Grin
