Free and ranked backlinks?

On another webmaster forum, there was a thread started by someone just simply asking if someone else would give them a free PR6 backlink.

If I had a PR6 site, I would have done it just for the moxey in asking.

There are, of course, free directories that are ranked PR5, PR6, and even higher. The thing is, your backlink is going to be on a page with a PR1 or no rank at all. Still, though, having a link on a high ranking domain, regardless of the specific page rank where the link resides, is a great backlink.

What this got me to wondering about was where there are resources available for backlinks...on ranked pages.


When I put together my Free Web Portal site (that was bad of me ), I was looking to include promotion resources which offered:

1) Fast listings

2) Search engine friendly listings

3) And preferably ranked on the page where the backlink would be placed


Number 3 just is not going to happen on a lot of directories and forums.


What was the alternative?

Well, the links would most likely not last too long, but it struck me to check some free for all links pages, and actually check the Google page rank on the actual page where the link would be placed.

No, since that would provide a benefit to spammers. My directory http://www.urgentclick.com/directory/ has free permanent 0ne-way links to sites. It is as simple as it gets to get traffic to your site.

The main page of the directory is PR5 and category pages hosting direct links to the advertisement for each site is a PR4. I don't think you will better than this anywhere online. Once people go to your ad page which is a PR0 since many are pure spam, the visitor is either compelled to buy/explore your site or they think you are a fuzzy rodent.

I must say that I have no control over page rank of my directory. I don't see why any ad couldn't get page rank since they are linked from at least a PR4 page.

Many ads have 100's of views.

My suggestion is to write a title for your ad that is like somebody may search for e.g. Cheapest Online Degree Certificate then follow this with related content and one link to your related site. The idiots that keep posting spam will spend the rest of their lives doing it and getting nowhere and likely end up in offshore jails. If they only throttled back from their massive spam quest and did one quality ad they could be sipping cocktails and getting toe massage in Costa Rica for example.
