Somebody lands on your site from cyberspace. Now what happens?

OK, they got to a page of content that they searched for on a search engine.

This has a page of informative content.

At the end of the page they are prompted to bookmark it and leave comments.

On the left side of the page they are encouraged to sign up for a newsletter or special offers by email.

Also, in the hotspot of the content area there is a paid ad position in case they are a webmaster seeking traffic or a product vendor.

Then there are some text ads that if only they would click on them would make you a few cents.

Then they download your free guide to making people find you incredibly attractive by entering a temporary email.

Soon it is time for them to leave your site as they click on the "x" to close your DHTML newsletter signup box.

But at this point your script acknowledges that they are not converting to a lead or sale so it's time to close the page.

They are surfing your celeb trivia site during work hours. The boss is approaching their desk and now your script launches a full screen Pam and Tommy movie in a window with no browser bars to minimise or close the window at full volume to thank them for the time spent at your site  Grin

I would tell people I know to block a page that did that as though it was a phishing site.

Links and accurate information provide the best answer, while garbage in provides garbage out.
