We have observed a major update in Google Page Rank (PR). Shocked This update was observed at : 2:30 am,April 28 Indian IST approx 10:00 pm,G.M.T, April 27

We tried checking other websites (which provide PR Check Tools) located in U.S and UK, but found that PR hasn't been been updated.  Huh

The new PR is clearly visible from datacentres across India, and surely it will get replicated across several other datacentres of Google. It could be possible that Google might take around month or two to update page rank across several different servers of Google located worldwide.

Please let me know if anybody else observed this PR update from other regions around the globe  Tongue

Dave (from India?),

my sites seem to be very stable concerning google PR and like most webmasters here I don't really bother much about it. I thought you were in the same camp?

Why are you monitoring PR so closely. Is it because you are placing a value on it for client billing?

   Roll Eyes

The idea to track PR is to observe ranking behaviour on Google. Yahoo uses a similar technique and it is called page priority, or something like that  Tongue

PR Algorithm is completely different from real Ranking algorithm. PR associated with any website can help you score top rankings because you might have submitted your dite to directories/link exchange directories which arrange links according to their PR.  Smiley

Scoring a higher PR surely helps you to gain higher positions in those directories. Almost 70% of Online directories use PR to arrange links within their directory. So higher the PR, better the rankings.  Smiley

Moreover PR is never a criteria for billing   Undecided

There is no fix time for a PR update. They always keep it changing and make it unpredictable to make sure only quality and natural website would achieve higher rank.
