Not much has gone right for me over the last week. I've not been on here because my grand mother died and i've been at the hospital before her death and then the funeral after her death. It's been a sad week for the entire family.

To top it all. My new HD cable box was on the blink and didn't work and when the cable guy fixed it, he broke my telephone line.

Anyway i'm back !

I also hope my luck improves. My mother has got mesothelioma though so it's not going to get that much better in the next year or two. I'm not going to dwell on that though and want my mothers next few years to be her best.

Sorry to hear about your Grand mother, and I do hope that these last few years is your mothers best, it's always hard to lose those we love.

Yes HD is amazing I got a 50' Plasma HDTV in January downside is only have 5 HD channels to watch Cry The digital channels look OK ,but the analog channel's look bad IMO. Sometime this year dish network should have over 100+ HD channels, and i hope to switch to them soon. I'm on VOIP so I lose the phone everytime i have cable problems.

BTW have you hooked up a pc to your HDTV? I'm using the 50' as my monitor.

I've not hooked up the PC to the HDTV. The only thing i've got hooked up is a PS2 via scart, a DVD recorder via scart and cable via HDMI. My TV doesn't have HDMI though so i'm using a HDMI to DVI converter and using audio cables for the sound.

On my cable network (Virgin Media) we only have BBC HD preview at the moment, but we do have lots of stuff in high definition on VOD (video on demand). I watched an hour long video on VOD the other day. It was all about space and our planet. It was well worth watching and the graphics were amazing.

BTW with this new hd cable tv box, i can watch one program and the hard drive inside the box can record two others. I can also pause live tv and then rewind and fast forward it. Amazing !

Sounds close to how I have it setup TV has HDMI but my box is DVI so like you have to use a converter with audio to receiver.

Sounds like something I watched the other day on Discovery channel showed a bunch of past space missions, the mars rover, the international space station and the various telescopes etc just a bunch of stuff about space.

Sound like the box i have "DVR"  i can record 2 channels at once but must be viewing one of them, it's nice to be able to record entire series with just couple of button clicks.

Have you watched a Blue-ray or HDDVD movie yet?  I look forward to it but, the players are expensive and don't want to purchase one until I know what the standard player will be.

Is VOD movie that you order from your Cable Box T.V listing menu for a few dollars?

Our cable company has that feature but,  the quality is standard and only 5 movies choices that play over and over for a month or so.

VOD is free at the moment, but movies and music videos need to be paid for. Normal movies are about £3 each and HD movies are about £4 each.

No, i have a dvd recorder, but it's noe HD. BTW the cable box and HDTV upgrades the normal picture quality. A normal program looks better now, than it did before we had the HD cable installed.
