It an interesting time in the world of internet marketing. The highest earning gurus seem to have saturated the market and milked every last penny from their lists with encyclopeadic levels of training offered to people over the last few years.

To make money online you either beg, become an affiliate, do crime or sell something. It is incredible how many courses and training seminars have been held under the guise of teaching people how to make money from the internet.

Now there is a new wave of marketers capitalizing on the exasperation and downright anger of all the people with garages full of dvd box sets of training and manuals on internet marketing that are yet to make their first dime online.

The titles of the tuition are pretty funny such as "Day Job Killer", "the Death of Adsense" and now the "Guru Slayer" featuring a fire-breathing dragon. All amuzing stuff but hopefully people will take a step back and realise that making money online is not a secret at all, it's just about being paid for goods or services that you market as an affiliate or you sell your own products just as if you were operating offline in a street market.

If people spent half the time they did on conference calls, seminars and working to pay off the bills for their marketing courses on thier own websites or online advertising campaigns then they would start traversing the online income curve and crawl out from the murky waters of the guru training swamp.

I hate to sound cliched here (no, seriously, I hate cliches) but if some internet guru has made millions of dollars with their secret recipe, why do they need $30 from me?

I used to have fun with making a short list of common lies people tell:

Nothing personal (if it's not personal, then there's no need to point it out)
This is for your own good (people do things for their own good, not somebody else's)
Good to see you (transliteration: thank god I'm not blind)
I/We would like to think about it (transliteration: I/We lack the nads to make a decision)
Honestly; to tell the truth; truthfully (transliteration: I wasn't being honest before, and most likely am not being honest now)
Between You and Me (we seem to be the only two here, so what's the point)

Popular keywords that indicate someone is twisting your nads to get money:

Honest/Honesty
Deal
Save/Savings
One Time/Limited Time
Trust
Opportunity
Like No Other

Both lists go on and on; add your own.

I'll apply the formula of approaching it from the perspective of 'If I made millions with a special marketing ploy, what would I do?'.

Possible answers include:

1) Primarily keep it to myself, but maybe share it with a select few.
2) Give it away for free so I can have that warm fuzzy feeling inside for doing something altruistic.
3) Give it away for free to use as a springboard into my next multi-million dollar venture.

Amazingly, selling it for $30 a pop is not on that list, so it makes me wonder about someone else claiming to be a multi-millionaire who is going to sell me a secret to become a multi-millionaire just like them, but it will only cost me $30 (wow, what a bargain).

Interestingly, I had a sales email from one of the marketing gurus that was being slain recommending the guru slayer product. So they will try and market products that are even criticising themselves possibly to try and fool people into thinking they are not one of the bad guys.

Some aspects of these products that are not so honest are the proof of sales using the methods you will be shown. The sales figures are true but they are after a product was launched to a big list of subscribers that the gurus pool together via jv deals with each other. So the results shown are like a burst of activity following an email blitz. So it is highly unlikely that you will achieve these results unless you join their club by attending seminars and getting to know them personally.
