In Japan my mates are retreating from the cherry blossom parties or geisha festivals and back to teaching their stuff in Japan. That leaves me to teach you noobs something about realizing your dreams of online success so you too can choose to be technically unemployed like me  Grin

I am planning to go to a language school in the evening 2x a week to learn more Japanese. I am already a part time English language teacher for some people as an extension to my business.

Yes I should share my experience here. Already I have some things to talk about.

Do you only learn English on the forums senso or do you take some lessons?

I believe that I've learned much more than just speaking English from being here, but guess it could be only judged by others as I never was good in rating myself

It allways seemed odd to me that Larysa (my wife) knows written English so well that she often helps me with my grammar (except for pronowns and some articles) but she always says she almost never got to speak English until she met me and still about the only real areas of speech she has problems with are the sound of vowels. I suspect Denis you are headed in the same direction.

Guess you're right, Don. As I don't hear much speaking lately, previously I had BBC, NBC, EuroNews and few other channels  in English which I was receiving through satellite dish so have some "sound" practice as well. but now I've to use dish for satellite internet and on current satellite nothing worth watching Undecided Maybe I should call you one day and speak so you can judge if I still able to speak or just write Grin
BTW I've learned to understand Polish by listening it from TV and have opposite problem, I have no idea how they write words so used transliteration to speak with people, couldn't imagine how many errors I've made but at least it was understandable Smiley

Don, do you learned some Russian from your wife or she don't like to teach?

The problem is that I am getting too old to try and learn new languages. Larysa tutors students in our home to help her with her English speaking and to keep her occupied since she doesn't have a full time job.

There are a couple of ladies that live near here that Larysa talks to that don't speak English too well and so she speaks to them in Russian. But her students are mostly people planning to travel to Russia, for business or pleasure, and want to learn some Russian. She has some students that studied with her on and off since 2005 and have gone to Russia to visit and to go to school. One returned from Russia and decided to take formal Russian classes in the University and did very well but had to quit due to students mothers health. She still come back to Larysa about once a month tutoring as she is carrying on her studies this way.

that's interesting, I couldn't think that Russian courses could be so popular overseas. Maybe it's good way to make some money for emigrants who couldn't get full time job.

Didn't used to be but now that US citizens are not so afraid of Russia and Russia has opened up to tourist trade there are more people interested in traveling there and this is good for both countries IMO.
