It dawned on me yesterday that I was being a bit dumb visiting various sites to check for new posts and bookmarking and forgetting about other sites when I could be subscribing to feeds instead.

I decided that I want to organize my RSS feed subscriptions and not let it take over my browser so after a quick search I found http://www.feadreader.com and downloaded their free software. Well it seems to work like a charm! I can easily add feeds to it and let this software check the sites for new posts. And I can categorize the feeds.

One word of caution though is that some of the big name sites such as BBC news produce too many new posts so it may be better to only subscribe to feeds from less frequently updated sites if you don't want to read too much news!

I have been blogging for about 1 year now and never really understood what the big deal with feeds was until now. So what I am doing on blogs is adding a link to this feed reader service to help readers find this useful tool too.

Well I read a lot of blogs too but never cared about any feed readers........ I once used Sharp Reader but now I use to visit the sites instead of using feed reader softwares. Don't know why!!!!!!! May be I will give these rss softwares another chance to prove themselves  Wink
A great list of free rss softwares can be found here - http://blogspace.com/rss/readers

One reason may be that viewing feeds makes you feel isolated from the site where the graphics are available and the message may imply you are missing out on other things? That is why I am only feeding snippets. I don't want my whole posts to be syndicated to other site's home pages or completely satisfying readers. Hopefully my judgement is correct in the small minefield in which I am operating.
