A smoothie maker is just a blender that you put fruit and ice in. I think !

my girlfriends mother bought one as well but it's not used much as well because juice in shop cost cheaper than one produced by blender.
Not sure what else it could be used for, maybe if it have beautiful design you can use it as decorative object in your kitchen? Grin
anyone got better ideas?

Smoothie maker is just a juiced up blender and I use blender for mine.   Here are a couple of recipes (non-diet)
Pina Colada Smoothie

What you need:

    * 1 6 oz container nonfat coconut yogurt (frozen)
    * 1/2 banana (frozen)
    * 1/2 of a 20 oz can crushed pineapple
    * 1 cup nonfat milk

What you do:

   1. Place all ingredients into blender.
   2. Blend well until creamy consistency is reached!

Nutritional Information:
Serves 2, per serving: Fat: .5 Calories: 185

Here is another:
    *  I medium- large banana cut into chunks
    * 1 cup of unsweetened orange juice ( for an extra punch use one with passion fruit and/or another fruit in it)
    * 1/2 cup of milk ( your choice as to fat percentage)
    * 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
    * 3 -4 ice cubes'

LDessert type Smoothie:

     Creamy-dreamy Orange Smoothie
 5 min 5 min prep
Change to: servings US Metric
1    ripe banana
1    navel orange
2    cups orange juice
4    ounces Cool Whip (Thawed)
1 1/2    cups ice

There are also diet type smoothies, encouraging good nutrition and weight loss - particularly good for the holidays and Andy's website (lol).
