This past weekend my BF dragged me to a NASCAR race. I brought my camera. I didn't bother to look at the battery levels, so I went with two very low batteries. I only got a few pictures.

Nascar is only in the States. Sometimes it goes to Mexico or Canada, but that is all. there is a lot of racing around the world though. It is very exciting to watch when you are there.  You actually FEEL the cars as they go by. There are 3 pictures of accidents. Two of the pictures happened right in front of me. I had some other pictures, but there was too much smoke from the tires to see anything. Those were the best. The other accident was at the other end of the track.

I did not move at all Denis. These were all taken from my seat. I used my big lense (75-300) to get shots around the track. This is a mile and a half (2.4Km) track. I sat at the end of pit row, just down from turn one.

Actually no one was injured. Nascar has had some high profile injuries and deaths in the past. They are very serious about safety. All the safety gear is strictly enforced. The drivers have no choices on the safety rules.

1.) The entire car is a roll cage. The "body" is placed over the roll cage.
2.) All bars of the roll cage near the drivers must be padded.
3.) If the sheet metal from the body is peeled back from an accedent and exposes the roll cage / driver in any way, this must be repaired or the car is removed from the track.
4.) All drivers must have a special seat. They have about 4 choices on the seats. The seats are molded to their body so they do not move.
5.) All seats have side head restraints. This keeps the head from moving side to side during an accident.
6.) All drivers must wear a HANS devise. HANS stands for Head And Neck Support.
7.) No car has doors.
8.) All drivers must wear fire suites
9.) All pit crew members must wear helmets and fire suites if they go over the wall to service the car.

This is just a small list of safety items for Nascar. There are a lot more. They do not want to lose any more drivers to injury or death.
