I am continually annoyed at the poor relevancy of Google ads.

In my blog and even on pages that hardly change, the ads are often way off topic. I think Google has a particular problem with blogs where they struggle to quickly serve up relevant ads.

I guess it's even worse for forums where the ads are not so in your face and the content changes rapidly.

I think earnings would double if ads were better targeted.

Don't avoid affiliate programs. Many pay around $35 per sale. Since you choose the ad, you can get a good match between the ad and your content. If you have traffic (say 20+ per day visitors to a page) and a topic-focussed page with little earnings, I would strongly suggest monetizing it with a relevant affilliate partnership. The cost of hosting 1 page in the context of your whole site is very low so the odd $35 coming your way can be very handy income. For best results, integrate a review and links in your content rather than simply pasting banners into the header where they are mostly ignored.

Well affiliate programs are a good choice............. with google paying as little as .01$ for a click....... affiliate programs certainly have the ability to produce a great amount of revenue with a single click........

But I do not think they are accepted by users the way google ads are accepted. Users seems to doubt sites with affiliate banners and links while google ads have become just like standards on the web.

That's why I suggest reviewing or personally recommending products that you use. Then you can get good affiliate income.

p.s. I think you would be very short-changed to only get $0.01 a click  Tongue In that case it would be best to cut the ads and retain your traffic. I think the highest click bid has been around $70 in the past and the lowest $0.05
