Im just considering paying for some listings in the higher ranking directories. I was wondering if its worth it as far as traffic and SERP's are concerned?

Any ideas ?

Thanks

I don't think I ever paid but depending on the revenue potential of your site, Yahoo! can't be ignored. I wouldn't expect much targeted traffic from smaller directories unless they are popular within industry niches and visited regularly by your potential customers.

I don't think your questions can be answered. I get traffic from Yahoo searches but almost none from directories. I have some good PR on several sites but I can't tell how I got it  Huh Google seem to hide many sites that link to you from a link search.

I've paid for listing in Galaxy for my sites and have paid for listing in other smaller directories when was working as SEO. I should say that it's probably worth thing to do if budget permits and your site could be placed in prominent place. Also I run partially paid directory myself(paid submission required for commercial sites) and know from first hand that SEO companies like to submit sites into paid listing directories.

As for Yahoo I can't say much as I never had so much money but friends who had sites listed there was satisfied with traffic it gives, as for Galaxy I'm not sure it worth to submit there anymore as at least my sites hardly got some traffic from there lately(guess it's because directory was flooded with other sites).

yes yahoo directory is expensive, but if you can get good traffic from it that its worth it. After all 300 $ /year is not so much if you compare how much is spent on adwords. Still with addwords you get to test your adderts for much less.

Anyone esle paid for yahoo directory??

I'm not spend on Adwords very much, try to keep it less than 10USD per month...
As for Yahoo fee I thought that it's one time fee not annual.

there is no one answer for this, but generally if you have commercial site it could be worth to spend some money to earn more, but if you have non-commercial site it's probably better to use money for some more useful purposes.
