Has anybody used Maya? Is it hard to learn? How much does it cost? Do I have to have a beefy PC to use it?

Never used it but Wikipedia says it's "It is often used in the film and TV industry, as well as for computer and video games." so I wouldn't know much about that.

Looks like it's EXTREMELY expensive $1249-$6999.  Here's the official Homepage:  http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?id=6871843&siteID=123112

Hi searchrentals123! I've tried Maya, 3D Max and Lightwave long time ago and have to say that although Maya is very powerful package it's probably hardest one to learn. If I had to choose from these 3 I would probably go Lightwave as prefer it's way of rendering and modelling.
I'm not sure for what purpose you're interested in Maya but maybe you consider free alternative called Blender -  http://www.blender.org/ ?
As Maya or other commercial packages doesn't look cheap at least for my pocket.
