Article writing and distributing to online article directories should always be in your traffic toolbox. It's a darn smart marketing, simple yet effective way of boosting the traffic to your website. Best of all, it helps you to generate the most important traffic there is: targeted traffic!

There is hardly any other online marketing tool that is as effective and yet so low-cost as articles are when it comes to generating traffic.

Most people don't know it but low cost marketing articles are capable of generating tons of targeted traffic for any site. For instance a single article posted at an articles directory can end up in tens of thousands of other web sites. This in itself creates a marketing situation where there is a huge but low cost potential for traffic because even if your article in each of those sites generates the occasional hit, the numbers will tend to quickly add up into a very impressive traffic figure.

Marketing articles are actually so low cost that they tend to cost next to nothing. Apart from the time spent researching, writing and posting the marketing article, there is no other cost the site owner looking to get away from low traffic will incur.

Even if one chooses to hire a content provider to generate the marketing articles, the cost will still be very low when compared to other methods of advertising online.

What's more low cost marketing articles tend to generate highly targeted traffic that has already been pre-sold before they actually get to your site. This also makes low cost marketing articles very valuable sources of traffic for any site.

As long as you write useful info and can keep from posting the same article at
many places, an article is a great marketing tool.  I like Artemis Pro as it does allow
ezine and site submission with altered forms of the same article.

It may be that the high influx of articles will eventually stall the system
and become ineffective.  For now use it and reap!

I wonder if most people using article submission software or actually going out and placing/posting them by hand?

I'm a strong believer in article marketing and just startet to use James Brausch' Article Submission Software Artemis Pro. Seems great, submits a unique article version to each publisher. Still too early for conclusive results. In 2 month I know more. Meanwhile look for yourself: http://www.artemispro.com/ (this is not an affiliate link)

I recommend article submission for getting inbound links to your site without doing link requests.

Individually submitting your articles can become very, very tedious so I use, and recommend you use, Artemis Pro.  It gives you a better boost than any other currently available article submission tool because it submits a unique article to each publisher and it doesn't reduce your article to gibberish like some of the other article submission tools.

It has a simple interface. It is easy to use and takes the tediousness out of your submissions.  Read more about it at http://www.artemispro.com (this is not an affiliate link)

I agree that the idea behind article submission is a sound one. I am keen to do it myself.

But I see a long term problem with the mass submission model that you guys are using. The inbound links to your sites will spike up and be unnaturally large so it will ring alarm bells in the search engine offices. So they are likely to come and take a look at your site manually to see if it is really such a great site that would naturally attract so many inbound links.

So they put you on a watch list for a while until they are sure you are stuffing their servers with duplicate mangled content and eventually penalize your sites. That's what I expect may happen.

The guru bloggers have huge followings so if they post a very interesting article they may well get spikes of inbound links as people all over the world post about it on forums and blogs.

It seems like another shortcut to avoid the hard work that is unfortunately necessary in anything you want to be successful at.

btw. how about this idea:

get your article and pass it back and forth through the Google translation tool using different languages. That should generate lots of slightly different articles for free.

That's a very interesting idea.
