It is early in the testing phase, but was very easy to setup, very little coding for what it does.  Decided to try the online users one... seems to work real well... thanks for the tip!

Hello,
yes, I think it looks good and "different" for what it does (minimum input for maximum output) I thinks its great a great idea,  ;)although not for my site which I think is too little.

Wondering on how this works for the online users script...  Not sure how to test this..  but does this show only the visitors on the page containing the script? Or do you need to add this to all your pages?  Would not want an indication of visitors on every page, though.

     Any thoughts?

it's just basic visitor counter... you put it on all or one page... and part of code which you're changing(www.yoursite.com) is used as your ID to track your visitors in text format.

A big problem with providing this sort of service is that your sites bandwidth gets eaten up and your server logs baloon out of control!

I used to host a free counter and I had to ask my web hosts to shut my site down and start again because all the bandwidth and web space was consumed by server logs. You get logs of all the hits on all the sites using your code. It was using the Apache web server.

If you have no logs and unlimited bandwidth maybe you are ok to host this sort of service. I saw another web counter site shut down probably because of this problem.

Cry Anyway I have to go off to work now to pay for my web sites. Byee...
