These are the first Macro shots i've taken with my Kodak P850. I've added a 58mm adapter and +10 macro lens to the camera to get these shots.

I'm having problems with the fact that im breathing and the camera keeps moving though and think i need to try using a tripod when in macro mode.

not bad Graham, but to my taste these shots are a bit soft, I assume that it was caused by "+10 macro lens ". What about built-in macro mode on the camera or it doesn't let you come so close to the subject you're photographing?

Built in macro mode lets you take some good photo's, but like you say, you need to stand back a bit to get the photo in focus and you can't get as close in.
 Shocked
I will try again with this lens on and see if it looks better when i play with the camera settings and use a tripod.

if those images are cropped 1:1 than it's ok, but if it downsized image than it's too soft :\ just compare it with two macro shots done on Z3 (BTW it have super macro mode which let you do shots from 1 cm distance maybe Kodak have such mode as well?).

BTW these pictures are downsized, but on the picture of original size I can distinguish dust on the leafs.

I've had hard drive problems again and don't have any software on my computer at the moment. All i've got is Windows XP (will change hard drives at the weekend) and i'm using paint to re-size the picture down to 20% size. No cropping at all or anything like that.

What i will do is try macro without the +10 lens and then with it on the same object and post both pictures on here and let you see the results.

Oh BTW that sudoku thingy came back to me. I will re-post with your address a bit easier to read this time. It was my fault that the post office couldn't get it to you.

With my camera, I can control it remotely via a USB cable. So with the camera on a tripod, it is dead still and I can adjust all the settings whilst viewing a preview on the computer. So this way I can get the best shot without really understanding much about the technical details of the manual settings.

I find it hard to keep the camera still as I take a picture but it's easy with the above method if you have this capability with your camera. Of course it's a bit OTT to do this outdoors  Grin

they look verry good
id love a camera with a macro feature as mine doesnt have anything like that but i have bodged a way to take them and they come out verry good
all i used was a old cheep pair of binoculars think they cost 50p brand new i only wanted the case for my camera so it worked out well
i took the end lenses off and put 2 together and just hold it over the lense but you can always just buy a jewelers loupe if your cam doesnt have that feature

will be waiting to see them, I'm sure that results would be more sharp than now as your camera seems to have very good focus IMHO(at least at telephoto end).

Heidi, you're very tolerative to sharpness I should say Roll Eyes BTW I keep forgetting to ask you, do you do macro shots as well or it's problematic with your current lens?

The fish eye can run up to $100 depending on the lense. I don't have the money for any new lenses right now. I have told everyone that for the holidays I want amazon gift cards so I can afford to get at least one lense.

This weekend I will try to remember to upload some of my macro shots so you can see what I can do.
