Hello!!!  I am an amateur  photographer based in London, I Love to capture nature from very close. I have been using Nikon FM-2 since 1995 which I purchased from one of my friends. I have been using Internet most of time for shopping as it is the most convenient way to sit back into my study room and enjoy shopping online but sometime it could really put you in trouble when you come across different brands and numerous sites. I am intended to purchase a Nikon D-100. Now what I need to know is to buy from a site with good price and satisfactory services. There are plenty of online shops in UK e.g. www.jesopps.com and www.Microglobe.co.uk ,www.Bristol.com etc, What’s the thing that really make it convenient to identify the real one.

Look at the customer feedback on the sites. Stores that are really good will naturally attract postive feedback and post it as testimonials on their site.

So you could include the keyword "testimonials" in your searches. This is the #1 way web pages establish credibility.

welcome to WKey Amsurfer! I've two ofl my cameras online, although last one I've bought locally even taking into account that it cost me more, I've did it because of warranty reasons because my last one had some annoying problems with shutdown and in order to repair it I need to send it overseas which isn't good for pocket and doesn't guarantee that it would be fixed.
So next my camera I would probably buy online(as Nikon D50 or other dSLR aren't available locally) but I would use shop in my country so I'd be able to send it for warranty repairs if necessary.

Regarding shops you've mentioned I can say that I've heard good reccomendations about http://www.jessops.com/
Third isn't known to me and I wouldn't use Microglobe just because they send me spammy mail requesting to add thier website to listing, it wasn't link exchange offer or I never correspond to them, I've mailed them back in order to check this issue, if this mail wasn't faked I would recommend not use them. Will post their answer once I get responce.

BTW method recommended by Andy would work very well IMHO, you can try site like http://www.pricegrabber.co.uk to see what shops sell product you wish and what feedback it has.

BTW personally I've used http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ and very satisfied with their services.

I have purchased a couple of cameras and other gear from B&H Photo ( www.bhphotovideo.com ).  Excellent product selection, great website, outstanding service, no sales pressure whatsoever (and no sleazy upsell tactics either), fast and reliable shipping.

You'll find many extremely favorable reviews about them online ... it's those reviews and recommendations that prompted me to give them a shot several years ago (because you're right: It's a nasty jungle out there).  Glad I did - have never regretted it.
